DECATHLON Quartzite 2-day Run:
  • Minimum age on race day: 18 years

  • Early bird entry (before 16 December 2022): R980 per entry

  • Pre-entry (before 20 May 2023): R1 300 per entry

  •  No late entries or entries on race day will be accepted 

 

Saturday 25 May 2024. Day 1 - 15km Quartzite Run - with hill-top finish!
640m elevation. Starts at Ou-plaas, finish at Main venue. Transport to start will be provided. Route includes; 3,5km tertiary gravel road and 11,5km along built nature trails. All climbs can be run. Sections with loose rocks and gravel. ±15% shaded. Water point at 6km en 9,5km mark.

 

Sunday 26 May 2024. Day 2 - 32km Quartzite Run - 12lap + 10km lap + 10km lap, 1210m elevation. Start and finish at main venue. Full distance along natural trails. All climbs can be run. Sections with loose rocks and gravel. ±15% shaded. 1 water point into each lap at 7,8km and at start of new lap.

DECATHLON Granite 2-day Run:
  • Minimum age on race day: 16 years.

  • Early bird entry (before 16 December 2022): R780 per entry

  • Pre-entry (before 20 May 2023): R950 per entry

  •  No late entries or entries on race day will be accepted 

 

Saturday 25 May 2024. Day 1 - 11km Granite Run - with hill-top finish!
370m elevation. Starts at Ou-plaas, finish at Main venue. Transport to start will be provided. Route includes; 3,5km tertiary gravel road and 7,5km along built nature trails. All climbs can be run. Sections with loose rocks and gravel. ±15% shaded. Water point at 4,8km en 8,5km mark.

820m elevation. Start and finish at main venue. Full distance along natural trails. All climbs can be run. Sections with loose rocks and gravel. ±15% shaded. 1 water point into each lap at 7,8km and at start of new lap.

 

The DECATHLON 12km Lekka Run:
  • Minimum age on race day: 14 years

  • Pre-entry (before 20 May 2023): R200 per entry

  •  Late entry: R250 per entry 

  • Late entries will be accepted on race day

 

Sunday 26 May 2024. The 12km Lekka Run. 430m elevation. Start and finish at main venue. Full distance along natural trails. All climbs can be run. Sections with loose rocks and gravel. ±20% shaded. 1 water point en-route at 7,8km.

 Athletics Free State Trail Run Championship (NEW) 
  • Sunday 26 May

  •  Only full/year ASA-license holders  may compete in the championship. No day-licenses 

  • This is an OPEN Championship and athletes from other porovinces will be allowed to participate. A seperate Athletics Free State Championship podium will be awarded

  • The price purse of R10 000 will be awarded to the OPEN event podium

  •  Junior U/19 and U/23 Championship  podium and title will be determined on the 22km course

  •  Senior, Masters 40-49, Masters 50-59, Masters 60+  Championship podium and title will be determined on the 32km course

  • at least three athletes have to complete the race category to award a podium

  • Podium winners will be awarded a gold, silver and bronze Atheltics Free Stade medals

  • Pre-entry (before 20 May 2023): R250 per entry

 

 32km - 12lap + 10km lap + 10km lap, 1210m elevation. Start and finish at main venue. Full distance along natural trails. All climbs can be run. Sections with loose rocks and gravel. ±15% shaded

Event Program

Registration & Number Pick-up:
  • Fri 24 May 2024 – 15:00-20:00 at the Koedoesaal at Koedoeslaagte Trail Park

  • Sat 25 May 2024 – 06:00-07:30 at the Koedoesaal at Koedoeslaagte Trail Park

  • Sun 26 May 2024 – Number Pick-up and

  • late registration for the 11km Lekka Run, 06:00-07:30 at the Koedoesaal at Koedoeslaagte Trail Park

 

Event Briefing & Pasta Evening:
  • All participants are encouraged to attend the main Quartzite and Granite Run event briefing by the organisers on Friday afternoon, 24 May at the main venue at Koedoeslaagte Trail Park

  • Pasta and beer/soda are available to all Quartzite and Granite from 15:00-20:00 (included in entry fee) 

  • All participants must attend the pre-race briefing 10 minutes prior to the start of each race

 

Start & Cut-off Times Saturday:
  • Tractor and trailer transport to Ouplaas (3,5km) will depart from 07:00 (Quartzite runners first then Granite runners)

  • Supporters are welcome to drop their runners, watch the start and immediately return to the main venue to awasit the runners.

  • Runners who has family members to drop them off at Ouplaas do not need to leave earlier than 8:00 - only 3,5km

  • Runners are welcome to run the 3,5 kms as a warm-up ;)

  • 15km Quartzite Run, Start time 08:30, cut-off time 11:30

  • 11km Granite Run, Start time 08:40, cut-off time 11:30

  2.  Only affiliated athletes in possession of a valid ASA year-license will be eligible to receive prize money 

  3. A participant may qualify for both an overall prize and age category prize in the same race
